Currently many Bangladeshi families disinfect pond and rain water by boiling it. This process is CO₂ intensive and harms people's respiratory system as well as local forests.
You give 'WADI' devices to families in need. Recommended by the WHO, this device disinfects water using the solar water disinfection (SODIS) method — a natural process that kills viruses, bacteria and parasites with the UV-A rays of sunlight. Now residents of Sarankhola can drink rain- and pond water without boiling it beforehand.
As a result, locals save their limited income on firewood and prevent CO₂ emissions. Trees can keep absorbing CO₂ instead of being cut down for fuel. On top of the ecological impact, the project enables real benefits for locals: health, education, jobs and a secure income.
We partner with experts to create the best possible impact together. HELIOZ is our partner on the ground in Sarankhola. The project is recommended by the WHO and scientifically monitored by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU). They are actively engaged with locals to ensure everything goes as planned.
