Behind Tambopata.
The Peruvian Amazon acts like the lungs of our earth. The rainforest represents an incomparable habitat for a variety of rare and endangered species. This unique place must be protected at all costs. You help us protect a 591,119 hectare zone in Tambopata, Peru. Local farmers are supported in the transition to sustainable cocoa production. This restores degraded land and reduces deforestation pressure. The FairTrade certified cacao production creates a barrier to protect the rainforest and provides locals with a sustainable livelihood. In addition, monitoring stations are set up and rangers are deployed to patrol the forest, thus protecting it from deforestation and slash-and-burn methods. It is ensured that the indigenous people can continue their unique way of life without disturbance. 30 endangered species are protected, including giant otter, blue macaw and giant armadillo.
